Discussion(Reflection Questions/Statements)

1.What does the use of thick line in artwork communicate? The use of thick line in artwork communicates strength and boldness in an image.
2.What does the use of thin line in artwork communicate? The use of thin lines in artwork communicates feelings frailty and elegance. Thin lines are delicate and give off an ephemeral feel.
3.What are tapered lines generally used for? Tapered lines are generally used to draw the eye toward something.
4.Give examples of how you used thick, thin, and tapered lines in your artwork to convey structure. Thick lines are used on the border of the work to encompass the whole piece. The thin lines protruding from each corner are used to connect the tapered lines in the middle to outside border. 
5.Overall, what you were trying to communicate to your audience? What I am trying to communicate to my audience is the elegance of the flower by making it the focal point of the artwork surrounded by a strong border. 

S2 PP3 – EofA Line p2 DIRECTION

1. Why might you use horizontal line in a piece of artwork? Horizontal lines are used in art typically to create a sense of quiet and restfulness in an image.
2.What feelings do vertical lines evoke? The feelings that vertical lines evoke are feelings of loftiness, spirituality, and dignity. 
3.How do curvilinear lines express movement? Curvilinear lines express movement by being less straight, less predictable than normal lines,and curvier than normal lines.
4.How do perpendicular lines create tension? Perpendicular lines create tension through by being intersecting 90 degrees to each other.
5.How are zigzag lines used to imply danger? Zigzag lines are used to imply danger as the lines create a sense of confusion and nervousness through directional changes.
6.Which lines did you use in your artwork? The lines I used were horizontal,vertical,zigzag, and diagonal lines.
7. I used vertical lines at the top of art to have the big black lines reach the top of the image.
8. I used vertical and horizontal lines to create a sense of rest and wonder in the art piece.

S2 PP2 – Line Art p1 PATTERN

1.Definition of Line: The distance between two points in open space; A straight one- dimensional figure that has no thickness and extends endlessly in both directions.
2.Examples of how line was used: In the lower box I used short and broken lines to create a maze. In the upper box I used long and continuous lines to create a vertical line pattern. 
3.Overall communication of design: In my design I was trying to create a horizontal/vertical maze design in the lower box. In the upper box I was trying to use lines to create a vertical ordered line
